Light fixtures are probably my favorite part of design. They have an amazing ability to add finishing touches to any space and a long hallway is the perfect place to showcase lighting. Whatever your personal style is - funky, dramatic, glamorous, simple - a hallway will let your lighting shine to it's fullest.

Add an accent wall, try wallpaper with a fun pattern, paint your hallway two colours (which can look beautiful if you have wainscoting - one colour on top and a different on bottom). In terms of colour - the possibilities are endless!

The importance of hallways cannot be overstated. Besides providing a way to get from point A to point B, they can also supply opportunities to showcase artwork, emphasize a focal point, or make a statement. Making a picture gallery is probably the most popular option for hallway décor, but it can also be the most overwhelming. What pictures do you choose? How many do you need? Do you keep the picture frames all the same or change it up? How do you begin to hang them? Firstly, figure out what you want to showcase - artwork, family photos, etc. I personally love a wall of pictures frames that are all different - it adds tons of character to the space. With regards to where to start hanging, find the middle of the wall and just go for it. Hang the pictures straight, at random - it's completely up to you!

If you’re hallway isn’t too skinny, it is an awesome place to incorporate a bookcase. Hallway bookcases can be a great storage solution and an amazing design element.
